August 8, 1969 – John, Paul, George and Ringo crossed this street outside of Abbey Road studios while photographer Iain McMillan, balanced on a step-ladder in the middle of the road took six shots while a policeman held up the traffic. The band then returned to the studio and recorded overdubs on ‘The End’, ‘I Want You (She’s So Heavy)’ and ‘Oh! Darling’.

One of the six photos was chosen as the Abbey Road album cover and has now become one of the most iconic covers of all time.
