ICYMI: Ryan Adams “reimagines” Taylor Swift’s entire album, 1989. You can hear his take on full album via YouTube playlist above.

In a recent interview on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show, Adams mentions being going through a tough time in his life when he took on the project. After taking a week and a half to learn the entire album and recording four of them solo on a 4 track cassette recorder, the machine ate the tape. He then decided to re-record the album with a full band.

“They’re not cover songs. They’re reimaginings of my songs, and you can tell that he was in a different place emotionally than I was. There’s this beautiful aching sadness and longing in this album that doesn’t exist in the original.” – Taylor Swift (on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show)
