All week for Sense of Place Philly, we’re bringing you free downloads from up-and-coming Philly artists. Today, the spotlight is on rock and roll four-piece Pine Barons. You may have seen them on tour with The Districts this winter, and like those guys, their songs are shaped around classic sounds and a heck of a lot of live energy. The band’s debut EP was hissy and lo-fi; the new record they’re in the process of recording brings their writing chops and chemistry to the forefront. Today we’re bringing you the premiere of a brand new song called “Clowns,” which draws from The Beatles, Built to Spill and even a bit of anthemic Weezer-esque power pop.
