Encore – Orville Peck joins host Stephen Kallao

Orville Peck makes country music in the spirit of the standards he grew up with, from Johnny Cash, to Merle Haggard and Dolly Parton, but mixed in are other influences from his youth, like new wave and punk. Since his debut earlier this year, he’s gained attention for his persona – always disguised in a lone ranger mask – and also for his forthright storytelling about same-sex love. Orville joins host Stephen Kallao to talk about his varied musical influences and the response he’s received as a queer country musician.
