40 years ago today, John Lennon’s last public TV Performance was aired.

June 13, 1975 – A Salute to Sir Lew Grade

Originally recorded in front of a live audience on April 18, 1975 – Lennon came out to join his band dressed from head to toe in a bright red jumpsuit – introduced as “John Lennon Etc.”  If you look carefully you’ll noticed the initials “BOMF” on the bass drum, a clue to the Lennon backing group’s real identity: Brothers of Mother F–ers, a distinctly un-family friendly alias that they had to withhold to perform on TV.

Watch his performance of "Slipping and Sliding" and “Stand By Me” below.
