The Ramones in front of CBGB’S

October 16th 2006: CBGB, the legendary New York punk club credited with discovering Patti Smith and Ramones, closed it’s doors.

The night before was celebrated with a show by Patti Smith herself. Blondie and Talking Heads also found fame after performing at the club, which played a key role in US punk music. On December 1973 the club opened it’s doors, with the full name CBGB OMFUG standing for “country, bluegrass, blues and other music for uplifting gormandizers”.
