Nov 9th 1967 –  Rolling Stone Magazine Vol 1 No. 1

48 years ago today, the very first issue of Rolling Stone Magazine was published in San Fransisco, Ca. Founder, Jann Wenner said in the first edition, Rolling Stone “is not just about the music, but about the things and attitudes that music embraces.”

The first edition had a photo of John Lennon in army fatigues on the cover – featuring his role in the film ‘How I Won The War’.

Did you know: The name for the magazine wasn’t just named after the band? It was actually a mix of three sources: the Muddy Waters song, the first rock ‘n’ roll record by Bob Dylan as well as the band.
