Today (March 25) in 1966, The Beatles posed for their next America album, Yesterday And Today at a photo session at Bob Whitaker’s studio in London. The Beatles posed in white coats using sides of meat with mutilated and butchered dolls for the cover 

After disc jockeys and record reviewers received advanced copies, the negative reaction to the cover photo was so strong Capitol pulled 750,000 copies from distributors to replace the cover (see below). 

The album with original photo is known today as the “Butcher Cover”.
