Tomorrow the whole first hour of World Cafe is a live performance and interview with Rosanne Cash on her soon to be released new album The River & the Thread.

The last time Rosanne came by was 2009.  She had just released The List, a record inspired by a list of 100 essential country songs left to her by her father, Johnny Cash.  Back then she gave us a list of songs that she felt were important to pass on to her own children.  They were:

“Like a Rolling Stone” by Bob Dylan
“Born to Run” by Bruce Springsteen
“Big River” by Johnny Cash
“Ode to Billie Joe” by Bobbie Gentry
“One” by U2
“What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye

What do you think of Rosanne’s list? What songs do you think are essential to pass on?
