Shamir joins host Raina Douris

Shamir was 19 when he released the catchy electro pop single “On the Regular.” Feeling boxed in by the expectations that followed, it took him the next 6 years and several albums to get to a release that was finally, totally him. On the World Cafe, he talks about what kept him going in darker moments and the happier process of creating his self-titled record, and he plays a stripped-down set of music.

This is an encore.
