Encore: Lizzo joins host Talia Schlanger

Lizzo’s new album Special comes out on Friday, and on the World Cafe, we revisit her session from 2019, just before she became a pop sensation. She talks about drawing inspiration from Aretha Franklin to harness the power of her voice, what it was like to record with Prince, and how some of her girlfriends ended up in the studio to sing on one of her biggest hits.
