This month, Sly & The Family Stone’s 1971 album, There’s A Riot Goin’ On, turns 50. The record was a commercial success, but it was also a big shift for the band – AND, it was kind of weird. World Cafe correspondent John Morrison will dive into this innovative album, exploring the songs and the unique way genres are combined, from blues to psychedelic rock.
