When Givers suggested we visit Lake Martin just outside Lafayette, they made mention of “many alligators.” We wound up seeing only one (I’m not counting the statue in front of the swamp tour office), but a close encounter with one gator was plenty, and the Spanish moss-covered pastoral surroundings were divine.
