It’s NPR’s 50th anniversary!…The first on-air original programming ran on May 3rd in 1971, and NPR is marking the occasion with special looks back in history to news, arts, and popular culture. World Cafe carries on the celebration with a full two-hour mix of songs from 1971 – It’s the same year David Bowie’s “Life On Mars” was released, Carole King sang “It’s Too Late,” and the “Theme From Shaft” was a number one hit.
